Who Is Economics Professor and Academician, Sabri Orman?
Graduated from Diyarbakır Imam Hatip High School, Istanbul Higher Islamic Institute (1972), and Istanbul University Faculty of Economics (1976). In 1980, he was assigned to the faculty he graduated from as an assistant. He finished his doctorate at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics (1981) with his thesis called “Gazali’nin İktisat Felsefesi” (Philosophy of Economics by Gazali). In 1982, he started giving lectures at Marmara University, Faculty of Economical and Administrative Sciences, Department of Economics as Assistant Professor. In the 1982-83 academic year, he taught in Atatürk University, Faculty of Economical and Administrative Sciences, Department of Economics under a rotation program. In 1986, he became an associate professor at Marmara University. In the 1989-90 school year, he worked at London University, London School of Economics and Political Sciences as a "Research Scholar".
He became a professor at Marmara University, Department of Economics in 1993. He acted as a professor of economics at International Islamic University, Department of Economics in Malaysia between 1992-94, and at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) in the same country between 1995-97. In 2002, he retired from Marmara University Department of Economics and continued his studies at ISTAC. Taking office at Istanbul Commerce University as Vice-Rector in 2007, he kept working as Rector after 2009. In 2011, he resigned at his own accord.
