Karz-i Hasen Workshop was held at Müsiad Headquarters

The "Karz-ı Hasen Workshop", jointly organized by the Participation Banks Association of Turkey (PBAT), MUSIAD Karz-ı Hasen Fund, Islamic Economics Research Center (IKAM), Islamic Economics Research and Application Association (IKSAR) and Karz-ı Hasen Foundation, was hosted by the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) Headquarters on 9 March 2024.

Starting with the opening speeches of Mahmut Asmalı, President of MUSIAD, İsmail Vural, Secretary General of the Participation Banks Association of Turkey, and Mehmet Koca, Chairman of the Founding Board of Trustees of the Karz-ı Hasen Foundation, and the welcome speech of Muhammet Ali Özeken, Chairman of the MUSIAD Karz-ı Hasen Fund, the Workshop focused on the current status of Karz-ı Hasen, the theoretical and technical problems encountered, future goals, and practices in Turkey and the world.

In his speech, MUSIAD President Mahmut Asmalı talked about the importance of MUSIAD Karz-ı Hasen Fund, which has been operating since 2016 and increasing its institutionalization day by day, in the eyes of the society and the importance of being an alternative financing especially for our citizens with interest sensitivity.

Muhammet Ali Özeken, President of MUSIAD Karz-ı Hasen Fund, said in his speech: "As MUSIAD, we set out with the aim of institutionalizing Karz-ı Hasen, which is widespread in our society individually. In this process, we have supported hundreds of our members and we have seen how important it is for the society to institutionalize Karz-i Hasen, which is an alternative method, in this process."

İsmail Vural, Secretary General of the Participation Banks Association of Turkey, said, "Talking about the systematization and institutionalization of the Karz-ı Hasen institution throughout the country, as the Participation Banks Association of Turkey, we are striving for the legal ground and legislative work of Karz-ı Hasen with our knowledge and experience." Vural expressed that he hoped that the Karz-ı Hasen Workshop would be auspicious for the stakeholders who came together and that they would be pleased to fulfill their duty for all the work that will take place in this field.

Mr. Mehmet Koca, President of Karz-ı Hasen Foundation, said: "We have come a long way over the years in this service, which we set out under the name of Karz-ı Hasen Foundation and provided financing to young couples to get married." Koca said; "When we look back today, it is very pleasing for us that the number of institutions serving for the purpose of Karz-ı Hasen has increased in our country and that such a Workshop was hosted by MÜSİAD. I believe that it will be extremely productive to exchange ideas with so many people who are devoted to this service."

The Karz-ı Hasen Workshop, hosted by MUSIAD and jointly organized by the Participation Banks Association of Turkey, MUSIAD Karz-ı Hasen Fund, Islamic Economics Research Center (IKAM), Islamic Economics Research and Application Association (IKSAR) and Karz-ı Hasen Foundation, was attended by representatives from the Interest-Free World Foundation, IHH Çeyiz Foundation, Günışığı Foundation, member banks of the PBAT , as well as representatives from Türk Eximbank.

In addition, many academicians from Sakarya University, Istanbul University, Marmara University, KTO Karatay University, 29 Mayıs University, Karabük University and Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University who are experts in their fields also participated in the program.

During the day-long workshop, sessions were organized under the headings of "Turkish Practices", "World Practices", "Fiqh, Legal, Tax and Economic Dimensions of Karz-ı Hasen " and "Resource Creation, Resource Diversity, Resource Utilization and Corporate Sustainability". The workshop was concluded with the final session on "Implementation and Policy Recommendations".
