We Should Get More Shares From The Financing Of Energy Investments

Energy, which attracts great interest from both domestic and foreign investors and has strategic importance, especially for Türkiye, is one of the sectors in which the world in-vests the most. Energy investments are of great importance, especially in countries such as Türkiye, which is 70% foreign-de- pendent in this area. Participation finance institutions have also become essential players in the energy sector, where finance companies have focused the most in the last 20 years. Especially today, with the destruc- tion caused by the global climate crisis and the increasing awareness of environmental awareness, investments in renewable energy rather than fossil fuels are on the agenda.

It can be said that participation banks are ahead of conventional banks in financing investments made in renewable energy re- sources. Our greatest wish is to increase the investments made from renewable energy resources such as solar, wind and water, where Türkiye is advantageous. In this context, we are hopeful that we, as the participation finance sector, are one step ahead in financing these investments. According to the report of SHURA Energy Transformation Center on the Integration of Renewable Energy Resources into the Turkish Electricity System, it is predicted that the share of renewable energy in electricity generation in Türkiye could reach up to 70% in 2030 with the planned investments on the grid. Therefore, participation banks should prioritise gaining more share in the sector financing these investments. They should get a share from renewable energy investments and finance the investments that companies will make for green transformation. As a matter of fact, our partic- ipation banks announced that they provide suitable financing opportunities to companies investing in solar energy.

The steps taken by participation banking for the access to finance of the energy sector, which is essential for the development of our country, will increase even more.
